Social media personality Dr Nabiha Ali Khan has sent khula papers to her husband Haris Khokhar, reigniting public discussion around their troubled marriage.

A video circulating on social media from a lawyer’s account shows Dr Nabiha signing legal documents and placing her thumb impressions as an emotional voice-over plays in the background. The post was captioned “Khula ke papers bhijwa diye Haris Khokhar ko” (Khula papers have been sent to Haris Khokhar), while on-screen text in the clip read “Mujhe dhoka mila hai. (I have been deceived)”.

In the voice-over, Dr Nabiha criticised men who betray their wives while showing respect and kindness to other women. She spoke about the rising number of khula and divorce cases, saying no woman reaches the court or seeks khula without a reason. She added that women should not be blamed for every broken marriage and have the right to distance themselves from a cruel or unfaithful husband.

Dr Nabiha also appeared in a video shared through journalist Mian Saad Farzeen’s platform, addressing speculation that had been circulating on social media about her marriage. She confirmed that she had taken khula and said a legal divorce notice had followed as a result.

She further alleged that she had faced abuse during the marriage and claimed her husband had married her partly to gain public attention, which she said he ultimately received.

Dr Nabiha also shared a recording of a phone call which she said contained abusive language directed at her by Haris Khokhar. None of these allegations have been independently verified, and Haris Khokhar has not issued a public response to them.

Dr Nabiha and Haris Khokhar married in November 2025, in a nikah officiated by Maulana Tariq Jamil.

Reports of tension between the couple surfaced within months. During a television appearance earlier this year, Dr Nabiha said that her marriage was facing serious difficulties and alleged that her husband’s behaviour changed under his family’s influence.

Haris Khokhar responded publicly at the time, calling Dr Nabiha his “izzat” and denying the allegations against him and his family.

The couple later reconciled in March, appearing together at a public gathering. The reconciliation lasted only a few months before Dr Nabiha filed a khula petition in family court, alleging verbal abuse and physical mistreatment by her husband.

Haris Khokhar had not issued a public response to that petition at the time it was filed.
