The judgement was made based on the recommendations of a PTV inquiry committee set up to look into the issue.

As per Geo News, the recommendation to take Dr Nauman off air was presented during a meeting of the inquiry committee in which the managing director of the state broadcaster, along with other higher-ups, was present. The inquiry committee had interviewed both Shoaib Akhtar and Dr Nauman.

The committee was formed after Dr Nauman Niaz and Shoaib Akhtar indulged in a tense and aggressive banter in a live show, after which Shoaib resigned on air.
