A video showing an elderly man engaging in an indecent act in front of a young girl has gone viral on social media, with the incident reportedly taking place in New Nazimabad, Karachi.
The video showed the man standing near a parked car while the girl played nearby. He appeared to keep one hand inside his trousers, touching his genitals while standing close to the child.
The woman recording the video said that the girl lives in a nearby street. She said she initially thought the man was her grandfather, adding that the man tried to speak to the girl but she did not respond.
The woman said that the man then walked around the street before returning to the same area, which raised her suspicions. She claimed in the video that she went back inside to get her phone and started recording him.
The footage also shows workers carrying out work at a nearby house. The woman can be heard calling out to them and asking them to catch the man, while alleging that he was showing the child indecent acts.
The woman further alleged that the man moved towards another parked car after a family arrived at the scene and allegedly repeated the act. She then asked the workers to intervene.
A second video circulating on social media showed the aftermath of the incident. Another person in the video claimed that passersby had caught the elderly man and that he was later arrested.
Social media users have also alleged that the girl is mentally challenged, although the claim has not been independently verified.
Police have yet to confirm the man’s identity or verify the reported arrest.
