Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi has opened up about the reception he received in Pakistan, recalling how he and the team were showered with affection during their visit to Lahore.

In a recent interview with Indian media, Hashmi shared that he, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and others were welcomed with open arms when they travelled to Lahore for the film’s premiere. Even though the trip lasted only two days, the actor said the hospitality stood out.

Describing the visit, Hashmi said, “The film was Awarapan. It was released in Pakistan, and we went to Lahore for the promotion. The reception we received there was so heartfelt and amazing. The people were incredibly warm, and the hospitality was fantastic. The way they took care of us was truly memorable. We stayed there for two days, and before going, we had some concerns in our minds, but once we arrived, all those fears disappeared. We had a wonderful experience.”

When the interviewer asked if he had any concerns before the trip, Hashmi replied, “There was nothing of the sort; they are beautiful people.”

He also spoke about the response to his other films in Pakistan, saying, “Hindi films have always had a huge craze in Pakistan. People there really love watching Hindi movies.” He pointed to Jannat as another film that performed well in the country.

Hashmi continues to promote Awarapan 2, the sequel to his 2007 cult film, releasing on August 14. Ahead of the release, he shared a nostalgic collage of his look as Shivam Pandit from the original film alongside his look in the sequel.

Directed by Nitin Kakkar, Awarapan 2 also stars Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi, and releases worldwide on August 14.
