A viral video showing Dutch police throwing a heavily pregnant woman to the ground during her Palestinian husband’s arrest at an asylum centre has triggered widespread global condemnation. The incident, which occurred on May 19, surfaced on social media on Friday, prompting an internal review by Dutch authorities.

The woman stated that police attacked her at a migration centre where her husband was being detained.

According to her, the detention followed an incident where her husband smashed a television set upon learning that a relative had been killed in Gaza. A second video shows law enforcement officers dragging the woman across the floor while handcuffing her husband.

According to the woman, she asked officers if she could accompany her husband before an officer grabbed her and threw her to the floor.

She went into early labour five days later, delivering a premature baby girl. Dutch police stated that they were responding to reports of vandalism and a knife threat. Describing the situation as dynamic, authorities called safety their priority and confirmed that an investigation is underway.

The footage has fueled intense online debate about police force and the handling of vulnerable asylum seekers.

On the social media platform X, the video drew thousands of interactions, including a statement from Esmaeil Beqaie, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran.

Beqaie posted, “This is utterly brutal and outrageous. There is no excuse for Dutch police violently assaulting a pregnant woman simply because she wanted to stay with her detained PALESTINIAN husband. The Dutch authorities must ensure full accountability for this blatant human rights violation. Such incidents indicate systemic bias & discrimination within their law enforcement”.

Public reactions across various forums expressed deep anger toward the police personnel involved.

One user wrote, “These five policemen and policewomen must be punished for misconduct starting with the one holding a dog”.

Another observer commented on the perceived broader implications of the footage, stating, “This is the definition of western civilization – violence, racism, hypocrisy, brutality are the ways of the white western world”.

Demands for institutional accountability were common among commentators. A third user noted, “This is deeply disturbing. A thorough investigation is needed, and those responsible must be held accountable. Human dignity and the safety of vulnerable people must always be protected”.

Others questioned European law enforcement standards directly, with one individual asking, “Is that how Dutch police deal with pregnant women? There should be riots on the street. What the F*CK?!”

Several users expressed solidarity with the family’s situation, writing, “Humanity is dead??!!! A husband has every right to defend his wife. These individuals should not be serving as police officers and should be held accountable as criminals”.

Another person pointed out details from the video, stating, “What the hell! After pushing her to the floor did I just see them dragging her on the floor by the hair??? This is outrageous. The husband’s reaction is so valid”.

Multiple comments linked the law enforcement behavior to foreign political influences, with a user claiming, “Zionists fuel hatred that turns European police into thugs beating pregnant women over their Palestinian husbands. This exported Israeli cruelty is poisoning the West and must be exposed”.

Extreme reactions included statements of retaliation, with one user writing, “If something happened to that child, I would 100% support mob lynching that entire police department. Castrate everyone of them and parade them publicly. None of those ‘men’ should be allowed to breed ever again”.

Several users expressed deep skepticism regarding the internal investigation announced by European authorities. One comment read, “The Dutch investigating its police is like Israel investigating IDF war crimes,” while another added, “I bet they’re trained by the Israel terrorist force-IDF”.
