Hania Aamir’s styling at the recent Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) Beauty launch in Lahore has sparked an intense wave of online critique, shifting the focus from a high-profile celebration of global luxury entering the Pakistani market to a heated debate on celebrity fashion.

While the event featured a star-studded guest list including Mamya Shajaffar, Aena Khan, Nimra Jacob, Hemayal, and Bisma Alam Khan the spotlight remained firmly fixed on Hania Aamir’s ensemble.

Hania, who led the guest list in an all-black look featuring a YSL-embroidered top and a ruffled mini skirt, found herself at the center of a heated digital debate. While many supporters admired her effort, a segment of the audience expressed dissatisfaction with the execution.

Online style critic Moeed Shah echoed this frustration, specifically questioning the makeup and styling: “What is this mug? What is this styling? And why is the lip gloss literally dripping from the lips?.. The neckline is literally collapsing. I was present there and I saw her fixing it again and again”

Dubai-based entertainment journalist Sadiq Saleem, known for his coverage of Pakistani cinema, weighed in on the nature of the expectations.

He emphasized, “When the biggest face in Pakistan is chosen to launch a global luxury brand, expectations will naturally be high. If the look does not resonate, people will talk about it. That is how fashion works. True support is celebrating our talent while also expecting world-class execution from world-class campaigns.”

Model Kiran Malik also joined the conversation, noting: “Hmm watching the stories… The fashion reference stayed at home.” She later clarified that her intent was to express that the event’s overall experience could have reflected the Saint Laurent aesthetic more clearly.

She wrote: “A few blogs seem to have misunderstood my point. This was never about judging what anyone wore. It was simply my opinion that, for such an iconic brand’s first makeup launch in Pakistan, I expected the overall experience to reflect the Saint Laurent aesthetic a little more.”

Bushra, a south Asian lifestyle influencer, famous for Desi Style Diary on social media noted, “Hania Aamir was seen dressed in YSL from head to toe, and yet her look fell flat. She did not make any splash. In fact, it’s a proof that even the biggest names cannot create a fashion moment.”
