A husband in the Kokianwala area of Faisalabad allegedly sold his wife to a friend to settle a loan, resulting in the survivor being held captive, forcibly married, and subjected to sustained sexual assault for over a year. Police have yet to secure the recovery of her three children or apprehend the primary suspects involved in the incident.
Nadia, 33, now residing with her widowed mother in Madanpura, reported that she was married to Usman twelve years ago. Following their relocation to a rented house in Ansari Park, Kokianwala, Usman reportedly borrowed Rs 70,000 from a friend and property dealer named Shahzad. When repayment became an issue, Usman allegedly sold her to Shahzad.
Usman absconded with their 10-year-old daughter Madiha, and 8-year-old so Abuzar. Shahzad and his accomplices then held her and her four-year-old son captive at gunpoint.
In August 2025, the accused coerced the survivor into signing fraudulent divorce documents. Nine days later, while holding her youngest son hostage at gunpoint, he forced her into a marriage. For over a year, the suspect subjected her to sexual assault under the continuous threat of killing her child.
The survivor’s brothers successfully rescued her on June 17, but she reports that the four-year-old remains in the custody of the accused. Despite the survivor filing a formal application with the CPO (City Police Officer) Faisalabad, law enforcement has failed to recover the children or make necessary arrests. Nadia continues to receive death threats from the accused over the telephone.
In light of the police inaction, she has appealed to the Chief Minister of Punjab and the IG (Inspector General of Police) Punjab, to intervene. The petition calls for the immediate recovery of the three children, the registration of a formal case against the perpetrators, and the administration of severe legal justice.
