Lahore Qalandars opener Fakhar Zaman has dismissed speculation about his retirement from T20 Internationals, saying that he will end his career on a high note.

Reports quoted the left-handed batter as saying that he had briefly considered stepping away after the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, but later decided otherwise.

“After the World Cup, I had decided to retire from T20 cricket. However, I no longer intend to retire and want to finish my T20 career on a high note,” Fakhar said.

The 35-year-old remains one of Pakistan’s consistent performers in T20Is, having played 120 matches and scored 2,494 runs at a strike rate of 132.51, including 14 half-centuries.

He has also maintained strong numbers in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he represents Lahore Qalandars. Fakhar has featured in 99 matches and scored 3,018 runs at a strike rate of 141.82, including 24 fifties and two centuries.

The report comes days after Fakhar faced disciplinary action during PSL 11. He was charged with a Level 3 offence under Article 2.14 of the Code of Conduct for allegedly breaching rules related to the condition of the ball during Lahore Qalandars’ match against Karachi Kings on March 29.

Match referee Roshan Mahnama handed him a two-match ban after a disciplinary hearing while Fakhar denied the allegations and requested a full hearing under the PSL Code of Conduct.

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) Technical Committee later reviewed the case and upheld the suspension after hearing submissions from all relevant parties.
