The latest episode of Dr Bahu has triggered an intense debate online as viewers express sharply conflicting opinions regarding the strained relationship between the lead characters, Dr Sania and Salman, played by Kubra Khan and Shuja Asad.
The narrative trajectory, which centres on the professional and personal pressures faced by the couple, has left the audience polarised as they weigh in on the complexities of the domestic conflict.
Many viewers have rallied behind Dr Sania, characterising Salman’s behaviour as manipulative. “He needs to show a little patience. It should be her position to decide whether she wants to continue work or not. It’s her career,” wrote one user.
Another commenter labeled Salman a “red flag narcissist” while a third said, “All Salman has to say is that: ‘I am with you I will support you… do not worry you will complete your residency and we will look after kid mutually’.”
Support for Sania also emphasised the external pressures she faces. One viewer stated, “It shows how a strong-minded woman like Saniya can also break down due to the pressures of society and in-laws. It’s not easy for any woman to speak up or give their opinions. The people that do that are labelled as bad women.”
Others pointedly criticised Salman’s treatment of her, saying, “You need to support her. Take this anger out later. She is pregnant, she has left her career for you, she has changed a lot because of you. Stop pretending like you are the victim.”
Another fan drew parallels to the show’s antagonist Dr Shahnawaz noting, “Salman is the next Shahnawaz after ruining Sania’s life now he wants to celebrate her birthday, he is literally mentally abusing his pregnant wife,” while another added, “Now Salman controls Sania just like Dr. Shahnawaz controls Farheen.”
Conversely, a significant portion of the audience expressed frustration with Sania’s character.
One viewer remarked, “Every week first episode is about someone telling Sania not to do something and second ep is Sania exactly doing it.”
Others found her indecisive, stating, “She is confused toxic [sic].”
Some also expressed general irritation with her portrayal, with one fan stating, “I hate Sania in this episode why she act so annoying [sic].”
