Police have arrested an 18-year-old girl’s father, two brothers and sister in connection with her death in Lahore’s Sanda area.
The suspects were identified as Muhammad Anwar, Hammad, Hamza and Hina. Police registered a murder case and said that all the main suspects have been taken into custody.
According to police, the girl was brought to Ganga Ram Hospital with severe injuries on September 26, where she later died. The suspects allegedly left her at the hospital and fled.
Police launched an investigation and registered the case on their own complaint. Initial findings showed that the victim, identified as Maham, had suffered repeated violence involving pipes, iron rods and other objects.
The spokesperson for Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations said that investigators also found burn injuries on Maham’s genitals, allegedly caused by hot iron and a knife.
The spokesperson added that Maham died after suffering continued violence and abuse.
Police said that further investigation into the case is underway.
