Karachi police have arrested a father and his brother in Surjani Town for the alleged murder of his 10-year-old son, Haider Ali.
According to the Surjani Town police, the minor died after being physically assaulted at a residence located near the Ali Waliullah Stadium in Surjani Sector 36. An ambulance service later transported the child’s body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
The police identified the primary suspect as the child’s father Azhar Ali and the co-suspect as his brother Sultan Ali. Both individuals were taken into custody directly from the crime scene.
“The boy was allegedly tortured to death by his father Azhar Ali,” stated Surjani Town Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Sohail Khaskheli.
Investigation details revealed that Azhar Ali had recently divorced his wife, who originally belongs to Multan. Following the separation, the mother returned to her hometown, leaving the child with his father.
Police officials stated that the minor had previously run away from his father’s house two days prior to the incident due to frequent beatings.
The child spent the night between Tuesday and Wednesday at the Surjani Town police station. During his time at the station, he informed the duty officer about his parents’ divorce and the abuse he faced at home.
