Police in Lahore have registered a case against model Azbia Khan and photographer Zain Shah over a video filmed inside the historic Masjid Wazir Khan.
According to the FIR, lodged on the complaint of Mohammad Awais from the Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA), the two were accused of “violating the sanctity of the mosque.” The video in question was also uploaded on social media.
The WCLA official said the model recorded the video in “inappropriate attire” and without obtaining the authority’s permission. He added, “The video clip was recorded around four days ago and later uploaded on social media. It had also damaged the reputation of the department besides violating the sanctity of the mosque.”
Back in August 2020, actor Saba Qamar and singer Bilal Saeed also faced legal action for allegedly “violating the sanctity” of the same mosque during a music video shoot.
Following that controversy, the Punjab Auqaf and Religious Affairs Department banned the filming of dramas and movies in mosques and shrines.
