Five suspected robbers have been killed on Tuesday during an exchange of fire with police in the New Karachi Industrial Area.
Local police initiated the operation after receiving a tip-off. According to officials, the suspects were traveling using both a car and a motorcycle. Police claim that when the suspects spotted the officers, they opened fire.
Law enforcement personnel returned fire, and all five men were killed during the encounter.
Following the shootout, police recovered weapons along with the car and motorcycle used by the group.
The deceased have been identified as Nadeem, Sarfaraz, Naveed, Asif, and Ghulam Abbas.
Investigators stated that the suspects were “habitual offenders” and classified them as “high-profile criminals.” Police further alleged that the gang was involved in the killing of a milk trader who resisted a robbery in Khawaja Ajmer Nagri on April 20.
According to the police, the group focused on targeting citizens who were exiting banks with cash. Officials are currently reviewing the criminal records of the five men for further details.
