Security forces have killed at least five terrorists and wounded several others during an intelligence-based operation in Panjgur district of Balochistan on Thursday.
According to security officials, the operation was carried out in the Kali Suran area under Operation Radd-ul-Fitna 3 after intelligence indicated that militants were preparing to carry out a terrorist attack.
The militants were travelling on motorcycles when security forces targeted them using advanced weapons, officials said.
A significant cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the site, along with three vehicles, two motorcycles, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and a flag belonging to a banned organisation.
According to security officials, the militants were involved in targeted killings, kidnappings, armed robberies and planning suicide attacks in Panjgur and surrounding areas.
The operation was part of ongoing efforts by security forces to disrupt militant networks and prevent attacks in the region, where Balochistan has continued to face a persistent security threat.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces for thwarting what he called the “nefarious designs” of terrorists affiliated with Fitna-al-Hindustan, according to a statement issued by his ministry.
“The successful operations of the security forces against enemies of peace in Balochistan are commendable,” Naqvi was quoted as saying.
He added that the nation stood united against terrorism and in solidarity with the security forces.
Thursday’s operation followed several similar actions in Balochistan this week, as security forces stepped up intelligence-based operations against militants in different parts of the province.
On August 18, more than nine terrorists were killed in separate operations in Ziarat, Harnai and Surab districts under Radd-ul-Fitna 3.
A day earlier, two terrorists were killed and three others wounded during an intelligence-based operation in the Killi Zaik area of Balochistan.
The latest operations come as Balochistan continues to grapple with militant violence, with security forces carrying out operations aimed at disrupting planned attacks and militant activity across the province.
