Security forces killed five terrorists during an Intelligence-Based Operation (IBO) in Balochistan’s Washuk district, the military’s media wing has said on Thursday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was conducted on the night of October 12-13 after reports of the presence of terrorists belonging to the Indian proxy group Fitna al-Hindustan.
“During the conduct of the operation, a terrorist hideout was busted by security forces through swift and decisive action,” ISPR said, adding that five Indian-sponsored terrorists had been neutralised.
Security forces also recovered weapons, ammunition and explosives from the site, the statement said.
The military’s media wing added that sanitisation operations were under way to locate and eliminate any other terrorists present in the area.
The federal government designated terrorist groups operating in Balochistan as Fitna al-Hindustan last year.
ISPR said that counter-terrorism operations would continue under the Azm-e-Istehkam vision, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, to counter what it described as foreign-sponsored terrorism.
“Relentless counter-terrorism campaign under the Azm-e-Istehkam vision, as approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan by security forces and law enforcement agencies of Pakistan, would continue at full pace to wipe out menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country,” the statement concluded.
