Rawat police have arrested 11 people, including Chinese and Nigerian nationals, on charges of running a live-streaming pornography operation from a private housing society in Rawalpindi.
The gang was allegedly headed by a Chinese national who produced and uploaded explicit videos of men and women for sale online. Police recovered weapons, laptops, mobile phones and other electronic devices from the scene.
A team had arrived at the location while looking for proclaimed offender Raza Atiq, who reportedly managed to escape through a hidden route after learning of the raid.
Inside, officers found seven women and three men in a dressing room, performing sexual activities that were being live-streamed through cameras. A man on the streaming stage tried to flee but was caught. He identified himself as Li Guoliang, a Chinese national.
A 9mm pistol and ammunition were recovered from Li Guoliang’s possession. He could not produce a valid license for the weapon. Others taken into custody identified themselves as Li Shaoheng of China, Badrin Ahmed of Kotli, Saad Ahmed of Sector B-17 and seven women including a foreign national.
Women who were detained told investigators they had been lured with job offers and later forced into live-streaming and video production. Police noted that the operation was generating large sums of money through live content and video sales.
Rawalpindi police have sought assistance from the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) for the investigation. Inspector Sajjadul Hassan, the police spokesman, confirmed that the arrests have taken place, adding that further investigations could reveal more developments.
A case has been registered against all suspects.
