A Karachi court heard written objections from Razia Arbab on Monday in response to an application filed by her ex-husband, former Sindh lawmaer Ghulam Rasool Unnar. The politician had moved the sessions court seeking the registration of a FIR [First Information Report] against Arbab under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), alleging that she shared AI-edited pictures of herself with him before their marriage.
Arbab submitted her response through her counsel before District and Sessions Judge (South) Muhammad Aslam Sheikh, rejecting the claims and stating that her ex-husband filed the application out of a “personal grudge”.
Addressing the allegations in her response, Arbab stated that her “78-year-old ex-husband had levelled baseless allegations” against her.
She explained the background of the photographs, stating that before the marriage, she went to the home of her ex-husband’s friend upon invitation, where someone took the photographs.
Arbab further alleged that her former husband attempted to harass her by filing a complaint with the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) while using his “political influence”.
Regarding her absence from earlier proceedings, she informed the court that she could not appear due to her iddat period.
Alongside her court submission, Arbab disclosed that she filed a separate lawsuit against Unnar in a local court in Hyderabad on July 30. The lawsuit seeks the recovery of Rs10 million, 50 acres of agricultural land specified in the nikahnama, and Rs100,000 in monthly maintenance.
Following the submission of the written objections, Advocate Aamir Nawaz Warraich, representing Unnar, requested additional time to respond. District and Sessions Judge (South) Muhammad Aslam Sheikh granted the request and adjourned the hearing until August 29.
