Security forces have killed four India-backed Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists during an Intelligence-Based Operation (IBO) in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), security sources said on Saturday.

The operation was carried out under the Azm-e-Istehkam vision, which aims to eliminate Fitna al-Khawarij and establish lasting peace in the province.

Reports quoted security sources that troops recovered a cache of weapons and ammunition from the terrorists killed during the operation.

Clearance operations are continuing in the area to search for and eliminate any other terrorists who may be present, the sources said.

Pakistan has witnessed a rise in terrorist attacks, particularly in KP and Balochistan, since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021.

The country recorded its highest monthly number of terrorist attacks in 12 years in September 2026.

Islamabad has repeatedly called on Kabul to prevent terrorist organisations from using Afghan territory to carry out attacks inside Pakistan.

Pakistan maintains that the Afghan Taliban government has failed to take effective action against groups responsible for attacks on Pakistani security forces and civilians.
