Four people have been killed after armed men opened fire on a car in Larkana’s Lahori Mohalla over a longstanding land dispute, a private media outlet reported, citing police.
Police said that a woman travelling in the car survived the attack as the gunmen fled after the shooting. Rescue officials shifted the bodies to the Trauma Centre.
The deceased were identified as Allah Warhayo, Mansoor and Ali Sher Khokhar, while the fourth victim was the car driver Ghulam Mohib, police said.
The victims and the woman belonged to Hasan Wahan village in Naudero, according to police.
Police said that the victims had a longstanding land dispute with members of their own community.
Following the attack, Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Javed Alam Odho sought reports from the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Larkana and ordered the immediate arrest of those involved.
Odho directed police to conduct the investigation using intelligence-based measures to identify and arrest the suspects. He also ordered authorities to increase search operations, check-posts and surveillance in the area. He instructed law enforcement agencies to arrest the suspects at the earliest.
Last week, a man was shot dead by his son following a dispute over money in Sheikhupura, Punjab.
Police said that the incident took place in the Nai Abadi Arain Wala area after the victim, identified as Azam, asked his son Saim for money.
The request led to an argument between the two, which escalated when Saim allegedly opened fire on his father, police said. Azam sustained gunshot wounds and died at the scene.
A Division police team reached the area after receiving information about the shooting and took possession of the body. Authorities later shifted it to a hospital for a post-mortem examination.
