Faisalabad’s Roshanwala police have booked four officials of a microfinance bank on charges of harassing a woman.
According to the FIR [First Information Report], the woman’s husband had taken a Rs100,000 loan from the bank, while her phone number was listed on the loan application.
She said that the branch manager later contacted her and offered to arrange another Rs500,000 loan, asking her to visit the branch.
She said that her phone number was listed on her husband’s loan application, allowing the manager to contact her. According to her complaint, he initially asked her to visit the branch with her husband but later called again and asked her to come alone.
The woman alleged that the manager made lewd remarks during the calls. She said that she blocked his number after the harassment but he continued contacting her through two colleagues, whom she also accused of harassing her.
She later approached the bank’s area manager and reported his conduct. The area manager then called the woman, her husband and the accused officials to a mosque, where he heard their accounts and assured her that action would be taken, according to the complaint.
The woman claimed that the bank did not take action against the officials and also rejected her husband’s loan request.
Roshanwala police have booked the four officials and launched an investigation. No arrests have been reported so far.
