Police in Gujrat have arrested four seminary students aged between 13 and 16 for allegedly gang-raping an 11-year-old fellow student and recording the act on video in Kotla Qasim Khan village, located within the Lalamusa Saddar police jurisdiction.
The victim’s grandfather, Nawaz Gujjar, filed the complaint with the police, stating that the child had lived and studied at the seminary for a year.
Gujjar said that he visited the seminary on Sunday and found the boy missing from his room, after which he searched the premises, heard screams coming from another room, and opened the door to find one student assaulting his grandson while three others filmed the crime.
Following the complaint, police registered a case against the four minor suspects under sections 375A and 290 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
A spokesman for the Gujrat police confirmed that officers from the Lalamusa Saddar station took all four suspects into custody and opened an investigation.
The incident follows a similar case in the Chamber area of Sindh’s Tando Allahyar district, where a 12-year-old madrasa student died after an alleged rape.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Syed Saleem Shah confirmed that initial investigations indicated the perpetrators drugged the child before the assault.
“Preliminary evidence has pointed to possible signs of abuse,” he said, adding that the full facts would emerge after a postmortem examination. Police arrested three suspects in connection with the Tando Allahyar case.
