Security forces have killed four more terrorists in an Intelligence-Based Operation (IBO) in Panjgur district, taking the number of terrorists killed in security actions across Balochistan over the past week to more than 35, officials said on Monday.
The operation was carried out in the Koh-Prom and Aphan areas of Panjgur after security forces received intelligence about the presence of armed terrorists.
Four terrorists belonging to the banned Fitna al Hindustan were killed in a heavy exchange of fire, officials confirmed.
A large quantity of arms and ammunition was also recovered from their hideouts.
The operation was conducted under Radd-ul-Fitna, a security campaign targeting terrorist activity.
Balochistan Chief Minister (CM) Sarfraz Bugti praised the security personnel for the operation, saying that such actions will continue until the elimination of terrorism.
He added that the provincial government was pursuing a policy of zero tolerance towards elements hostile to the country.
Meanwhile, a search operation continued for Kharan Deputy Commissioner (DC) Munir Soomro, who was abducted along with three others two days ago.
Police and other security personnel were searching different areas for Soomro but had yet to determine his whereabouts, officials maintained.
Soomro was travelling from Quetta to Kharan in a private car with his driver, a security guard and another person when armed men intercepted the vehicle in the Lajah area of Kharan district, police disclosed.
The abductors then took the vehicle with them.
Police personnel attempted to contact Soomro on his cellphone after his disappearance was reported, but the phone remained switched off or otherwise unreachable.
The provincial administration has also involved tribal elders in efforts to establish contact with the kidnappers and secure the safe release of the abducted men.
No progress had been reported.
