They say all roads lead to Rome, but for Jo Yuri, all auditions led to Squid Game Season 2—though it took four tries and a very persistent phone call.
Korean actress Jo Yuri, who portrayed Kim Jun Hee, also known as Player 222, in Squid Game Season 2, talked about how she got the role in the hit Netflix series.
The hit show was released by Netflix on December 26, continuing the story from the end of Season 1. Squid Game Season 2 is the most streamed series in all 93 countries where Netflix is available.
Jo Yuri revealed that she had to go through multiple auditions to get the role. “I participated in the auditions for the show. My company informed me about the opportunity, and I traveled from Busan for it. My mom encouraged me to go for the audition," she said.
Despite feeling uncertain about her first audition, Jo Yuri was called back for a second try. She said, “I wasn’t sure how it went, but I gave it my all.”
Eventually, she auditioned two more times and received the good news while she was at work. “My director usually doesn’t call me during work hours, but my phone kept ringing. When I answered, they told me I got the role,” Jo Yuri said.
