Pakistani designer Sundus Shaheryar is making headlines for her groundbreaking work in international fashion and her sculptural footwear for Marc Jacobs.
Born and raised in Lahore and now based in New York, Sundus has carved out a space for herself at the forefront of global fashion. A graduate of the prestigious Parsons School of Design, she currently works as an accessories designer at Marc Jacobs — a label under the Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH) luxury group. Known for her conceptual, exaggerated and sculptural designs, her work is redefining how accessories, particularly footwear, are viewed in high fashion.

Sundus’ latest triumph came when her designs were featured in Vogue USA’s landmark December 2024 issue — the first-ever guest-edited in the magazine’s history under Anna Wintour. Marc Jacobs himself curated the issue, and it includes a striking cover story featuring supermodel Kaia Gerber wearing Sundus' bold footwear. The editorial was lensed by iconic photographer Steven Meisel and styled by legendary fashion editor Grace Coddington.
This feature also marks a significant moment for Pakistani representation in fashion media. Sundus is the first Pakistani designer to be highlighted in Vogue USA’s main cover story — a remarkable feat that further solidifies her status as an international talent.
“I think I was born with an eye for beauty and a love for creating it,” Sundus shared in an interview with The Sunday Times. “Maybe it was meant to be — my name, Sundus, literally means the finest silk.”

She has also made a mark in the fashion industry by creating stunning shoes for big names like Kendall Jenner and Paris Hilton at Met Gala 2023.

Her journey from sketching and dreaming in Lahore to making waves on the global runway is not just a personal victory, but a win for Pakistani fashion as a whole. While several Pakistani designers have gained recognition internationally — like HSY for his wedding couture, Sara Shakeel for her crystal artwork on Billie Eilish’s cover shoot and Maheen Khan for dressing the Duchess of Cambridge — Sundus’ inclusion in Vogue USA sets a new precedent.
What began as a childhood passion for colour, form and self-expression has grown into a career that is shaping the future of fashion.
As more Pakistani creatives gain global visibility, Sundus Shaheryar stands tall among them as a symbol of innovation, resilience and style that knows no borders.
