Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur has said that he took loans and sold land and property to finance Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activities, adding that he was hurt when Aleema Khan mocked him and asked him to provide proof of the spending.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with a private news media outlet, Gandapur said that Aleema knew how much effort and money he had put into the party and questioned why she asked him to prove the expenses.
“So, one thing pained me deeply, Aleema Khan knows how much effort I have put into the party. If someone doesn’t know and they talk about it, that’s fine. But she knows. I didn’t even mention it to her; she knows that I have spent a lot.”
Gandapur said that he was fighting for Imran Khan and had made sacrifices for him, just as Aleema Khan, her family and other party workers had done. He added that Aleema Khan mocked his claim, asking, “Oh really? He sold land? Tell us.”
Gandapur said that the issue arose after questions were raised about how he had managed the expenses of previous PTI marches.
“So, when I had to share those documents to prove it to her, I truly felt hurt that these are the people asking me to present proof.”
He added that he had previously financed party activities by taking loans and selling land and property.
“Look, I was taking loans, selling land, selling property. Money was being spent.”
Gandapur stressed that he had made contributions to the party with his “heart, body and wealth”, while acknowledging that other party workers had also sacrificed a lot.
The former chief minister was also asked about PTI’s preparations for its protest movement scheduled for October 4, and the party’s plans for the upcoming rallies.
Gandapur said that he will follow instructions from those given responsibility by Imran Khan and that the party would act according to the plan decided by its leadership.
“The decision-makers to whom Imran Khan has given responsibility will give instructions and whatever they say, we will follow at that time. It’s a festival, a struggle, a party, a fight. We have done it before and we will do it again. Rest, we have to try; the ultimate decision rests with Allah.”
He said that the party was also dealing with transport-related issues while preparing for the movement but expected people to come out in support of Imran Khan.
Gandapur did not directly address questions about whether the planned movement was an effort by Chief Minister (CM) Sohail Afridi to protect his own political standing, refusing to comment on the matter during the interview.
“I cannot answer this question, I am sorry. You can ask me this question later sometime, but not right now. Neither ask me such questions, nor will I answer them.”
