Global Hunger Index 2019: Pakistan’s rating improves, India falls behind

Pakistan has improved its rating by jumping towards 94th position out of 117 countries in the Global Hunger Index (GHI) 2019 with a score of 32.6.

As per the latest GHI, Pakistan’s ranking improved considerably by 12 points if compared with the last year’s ranking of 106 while India is ranked on 102 points, the lowest any South Asian country scored.

The Global Hunger Index or GHI scores countries on a 100-point “severity scale”, where zero is the best score which means no hunger and 100 is the worst. With a score of 32.6, Pakistan still suffers from a level of hunger that is serious but it is improving with time.

India has been ranked on 102 out of 117 countries, way behind from BRICS

While a year back, Pakistan had the lowest ranking in South Asia. Now in 2019, India has the lowest ranking in South Asian countries.
