Actor and producer Hareem Farooq has claimed that she gave Hania Aamir her first break in films.
During a recent interview the host asked whether Hareem had launched Hania.
“I launched her. Absolutely, absolutely,” she replied.
Farooq tied the answer to her long career behind the camera. She said that people often ask whether she is producing for the first time, and she tells them she is not.
She also praised Aamir’s talent. “She was meant to fly, I just caught her early,” Farooq said.
Aamir made her acting debut in the 2016 comedy film Janaan. She was studying at FAST-NUCES when she auditioned for the film. Farooq co-produced Janaan and also appeared in a cameo role. Aamir became famous through Dubsmash videos she posted while in college.
Her debut performance earned her a Lux Style Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. In 2017 she appeared in Na Maloom Afraad 2, which released on September 2. Her television career began the same year with Phir Wohi Mohabbat, which earned her the Hum Award for Best Television Sensation Female. In 2018 she starred alongside Hamza Ali Abbasi, Ahad Raza Mir and Kubra Khan in Parwaaz Hai Junoon.
Mere Humsafar, in which she played Hala opposite Farhan Saeed, ranked among the most popular dramas of 2022. She later appeared in the commercially successful Indian Punjabi comedy Sardaar Ji 3 in 2025.
Farooq’s latest film, the Punjabi-language “Mango Jutt,” opens in cinemas in Pakistan, the UK, the US, the UAE and Canada on October 16. Abu Aleeha directs the film. Farooq stars opposite Faysal Quraishi and produced the film under her banner, Hameem Films. Shamoon Abbasi, Qaiser Piya, Honey Albela, Hassan Murad and Ayesha Jahanzeb appear in supporting roles.
The film marks her first theatrical release in five years, after Heer Maan Ja in 2019, and her first Punjabi-language film.
Hareem said that she had wanted to make a Punjabi film for at least a decade.
