Pakistani journalist and TV host Uzma Tahir has publicly called out actor Danish Taimoor, saying that he has let success go to his head.
Speaking in a recent interview, Uzma took direct aim at the actor, saying that he has grown arrogant with fame.
“Danish Taimoor might be a great human for people, but I think he has now become egoistic. He has become arrogant with success, arrogant because somehow he forgot those whom he has worked with. You worked with me and know my situation, I grew up with you, I saw your highs and lows, but you act like a hero and show to others that you earn well and are a big name. You didn’t even have an FX [car] when you started working in the industry, don’t forget you came on a bus. We have worked together but you refused a podcast because you are now a big name in Pakistan,” she said.
She also mentioned Taimoor’s wife, actress Sadaf Kanwal, drawing a contrast. “Now Sadaf Kanwal used to be with me all the time, but she now respects me a lot. See how far she has come, married and successful.”
Uzma also spoke about the broader culture of arrogance in the Pakistani drama industry, saying the problem has existed for years.
“When we were new to the industry, our seniors would not even let anyone sit next to them. The same still happens today. Seniors get their food separately, the crew eats separately,” she said.
She added that people should never forget their roots. “A person should remember their past. He has forgotten. Good for him. You are a very good actor, but please treat those who have worked with you with respect.”
Uzma Tahir is a Pakistani journalist and TV anchor, known for hosting crime-based investigative shows Pardafash and Khufia on Abb Tak News. She currently anchors at 24 News HD and City 21.
