A duty magistrate in Rawalpindi on Sunday remanded Hina Javed’s husband and domestic worker in police custody for three days in connection with her murder.
Civil Lines police produced the suspects before the duty magistrate to seek their physical remand for further investigation. The court granted the request and directed the authorities to submit a progress report upon completion of the three-day period.
Hina was found dead on Thursday evening inside the washroom of her flat at Askari Apartments in Rawalpindi. Investigating officers noted signs of torture on the body, including a wire fastened around her neck and tied to the shower rod. Authorities detained her husband and the servant shortly after discovering the scene.
Civil Lines police station registered the FIR [First Information Report] on August 20 under Sections 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
Fahid Javed, the victim’s brother, lodged the complaint. In the FIR, Fahid alleged that the victim’s husband, father-in-law, and domestic worker murdered his sister. He stated that he received a telephone call from the father-in-law at 6:53 PM on Thursday, informing him of an emergency at the residence.
Fahid stated, “I rushed to the apartment with other family members and arrived at 7:23 PM.” He added, “When I arrived at the residence, I found my sister’s body in the bathroom.”
The complainant alleged that the husband subjected the victim to “severe torture and mistreatment” prior to the incident. He also stated that the suspects “might have administered a poisonous substance” to her before her death.
The FIR states the victim married the suspect in November 2025.
An initial postmortem examination indicated a strangulation mark around the victim’s neck, bleeding, and an injury below her right lip. Police sources stated that the final cause of death depends on the forthcoming report from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA).
Police sources a private media outlet that investigators have not yet determined the role of the victim’s father-in-law. Authorities are currently questioning him and have instructed him not to leave the city.
Rawalpindi Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) (Investigation) Saifullah is heading a newly formed seven-member team to investigate the case. Police have taken the mobile phones of the victim and three family members into custody for forensic analysis.
