The family of Hina Javed has for the third time rejected police investigation into her murder citing distrust in the department, reiterating its demand for a judicial commission to probe the matter.

As per the details, Hina’s brother Fahad Javed has written to the National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on Interior, asking it to establish a judicial commission to investigate the case.

The Ministry of Interior had earlier proposed transferring the investigation to another district and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation Saif Ullah had contacted the family, advising it to submit a formal application for a fresh probe.

However, the family has refused the offer and maintained that only a judicial commission can ensure a transparent investigation.

Earlier, police arrested Hina’s husband Faisal Asghar in connection with her murder in Rawalpindi. The 45-year-old was found dead in the bathroom of her residence at Askari Apartments in the Lalkurti area, which falls under the jurisdiction of Civil Lines Police Station.

Police had also arrested their domestic worker identified as Zeeshan.

According to the FIR [First Information Report], registered on the complaint of Hina’s brother, her hands were tied behind her back, a cloth had been stuffed into her mouth and a wire was tied around her neck.

The FIR also mentioned that Hina was tortured before her death, and named Hina’s husband, father-in-law and domestic worker. Her family suspected that she was given a poisonous substance as the suspects tried to portray her death as suicide.

The demand for a judicial probe comes amid the family’s allegations that attempts were being made to protect Hina’s husband and father-in-law while pinning the entire blame on the domestic help.
