Faisalabad’s Hira Qaiser has won Pakistan Idol, taking the title after a finale held on Sunday night amid lights, colour and music.
Hira, who comes from a middle-class family, delivered strong performances throughout the season and won over both fans and judges. She credits her success to her faith and the support of her parents.
The Pakistan Idol crown was placed on her head during the “Super Finale,” which was also screened in cinemas across Karachi and Faisalabad.
Atif Aslam made a special appearance at the finale, brought in by show sponsor Sooper Biscuits as their “Super Icon.” Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Bilal Maqsood and Zeb Bangash also performed and received strong applause from the audience. As judges, Fawad Khan, Zeb Bangash, Bilal Maqsood and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan gave their views on the finalists’ performances throughout the night.
For her win, Hira received the Pakistan Idol shield along with a cash prize of Rs1.5 million. The seven other finalists each received a shield and Rs500,000.
In Karachi, several artists watched the finale together at a cinema screening, including singer and music writer Shuja Haider, drama actor Misbah Khalid, musician Bilal Maqsood, Nazeer Hussain, Ayesha Jahanzeb, Kehkashan Faisal, Sara Mahmood and Zeeshan Chaudhry.
Show producer Badr Ikram was also present at the screening. He said that the team had worked hard throughout the search for Pakistan’s next big voice.
He confirmed that Season 3 of Pakistan Idol is coming and said viewers will enjoy it even more.
