World-famous Pakistani-born British boxer Amir Khan has been given the rank of honorary captain for a day by the Pakistan Army in recognition of his achievements.

A ceremony was held to confer the rank of honorary captain on the boxer.

Khan said on the occasion, “Pakistan Army has always played an important role in the promotion of sports. I always supported the Army because it is our pride.”

“I will continue to play my part for the promotion of sports in Pakistan. Pakistani youth should participate more in sports, I intend to open more boxing academies in Pakistan.”

“I had a meeting with Army Chief General Asim Munir, I am thankful to Pakistan Army for honoring me, we feel very safe when we come to Pakistan. One day we will win medals in Commonwealth and Olympics.”

Earlier Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi helped him to reopen his boxing academy in Islamabad.
