Funerals in Pakistan are sombre affairs with most mourners dressed soberly.

Television host Madiha Naqvi revealed that some women wore makeup to her mother’s funeral.

She recalled the day of her mother’s death in an episode of her morning show and shared how people came dressed up, which deeply hurt her.

Naqvi said, “I still remember when I first saw a dead body in front of me while fully conscious—it was my mother’s.”

The host continued, “A few hours after my mother’s passing, many people gathered at our house. I distinctly remember some of them wearing makeup, including women with dark lipstick.”

She added, “This is something I will never forget for the rest of my life. Perhaps those people were coming from somewhere else, but there are certain etiquettes for the deceased. This is Allah’s way of reminding you that this world is now over.”

During the conversation, the host remarked, “When someone dies, it serves as a reminder that Allah is saying, ‘The house you built or the world you were part of has ended; now return to Me.'”
