Shahveer Jafry has made his acting debut with Hurmat on HUM TV alongside Dananeer Mobeen, but after two episodes, viewers still have one major problem: they cannot separate him from the Shahveer they already know.

Shahveer plays Tabish, a cop in the drama, and only a glimpse of his character has appeared so far. He initially introduced himself as ‘Sarkar’ but his serious presence has already sparked plenty of conversation online.

For many viewers, watching Shahveer deliver a serious role feels almost impossible because they have spent years seeing him in a very different setting. Instead of taking the character at face value, several viewers immediately connected him to the characters like ‘Chintu’ that Shahveer used to play in his videos.

“Idk about you guys but I can’t take Shahveer Jafry seriously lol,” one viewer wrote.

Another said, “It feels like abbhi has de ga,” while someone else admitted, “I was watching it and it felt so funny to me idk even know why.”

The Chintu comparisons kept coming, with one post saying, “I got flashbacks of Chintu hahaha,” while another person wrote, “All I see is Chintu with a flipped cap.”

For some, Shahveer’s presence alone has made the role difficult to watch seriously. “He is so funny without even saying anything,” one viewer said, while another joked, “He is a pookie gangster.”

Some viewers also imagined how difficult it must have been for Shahveer to maintain a straight face while filming the role. “I am just imagining how hard it must have been for him not to laugh,” one social media user wrote. Another joked that the director must have filmed the “17437898th” take because Shahveer kept breaking character from laughing.

Despite the jokes, some viewers gave Shahveer credit for taking on a serious character. One viewer wrote, “But he nailed it no doubt,” while another said, “If he’s doing a good job in his serious role then I guess it’s okay being funny is just who he really is not the character. If he’s doing well we should definitely give him credit.”

Some fans are already tuning in because of him, with one viewer saying, “I am going to watch it because of him, give Sunny Jafry a role too.”

For longtime viewers, however, the old Shahveer keeps getting in the way of Tabish. “The OG fandom knows him,” one person summed up.
