What makes a rising star turn down a promising role in a highly anticipated project? Actor Usama Khan opened up about his surprising decision to reject drama serial Noor Jahan and how that choice shaped his path to becoming the lead in Ghair.

Appearing as a guest on Fuchsia, the Sunn Mere Dil  actor shared how his role in drama serial Ghair came about and even revealed that he turned down a key offer for another major project.

Usama Khan said, “I was also offered Noor Jahan, but I didn’t accept it. I felt there were too many people involved. And even now, I feel like I’m on the right path. But it was a good story. I told Mussadiq Malik (Noor Jahan director) that it was a good story, and I’ve always wanted to work with him.”

The Qarz-e- Jahan actor shared that he wasn’t initially planning to take on the drama Ghair but conversations with costars Ushna Shah and director Angeline changed everything.

“I was doing a telefilm with Angeline. I wasn’t going to do the telefilm initially, but then I had a conversation with Angeline, and she said, 'Do it.' Then Ushna asked, 'What are you doing these days?' I replied, 'Nothing.' She said, 'Then let's do a drama.' From there, Ghair came into the picture. She spoke to Nadeem Bhai, and Nadeem Bhai gave me Ghair," Usama Khan explained.

When asked which character he was offered in Noor Jahan, Usama playfully replied, “I wouldn’t tell you.”

Earlier, in a recent interview with Mahwish Ajaz, the Sunn Mere Dil actor opened up about playing the role in Ghair and how fame has changed his life.

Talking about his character, Usama explained, “When I discussed it with Yasir Bhai (Director), we thought of taking Salis out of the category of 'hero'. If we make Salis a hero, then tomorrow someone might accuse him, saying that he got married and the next day he will fall in love with someone else. Their chemistry will develop, and it shouldn’t be like that with Salis. I think we have overdone the idea of red and green flags. So, I think it's always like this, when we see a story, everyone is the hero of their own story.”

Usama Khan described his character Salis as indecisive and "a mama’s boy".

“Salis is someone who can't make decisions, an indecisive person, he is a mama boy. If you look at people in his age group, you'll notice that the clothes they wear are very colorful. Normally, people who are sorted don’t wear such colorful things. They prefer black, white, and grey – those are the sorted colors. All of Sali's energy, his brain energy, is probably spent in his wardrobe, and he hasn't paid much attention elsewhere," Khan added.
