A heated confrontation between Pakistani journalist Raja Faisal and Israeli Minister Amichai Chikli over the Middle East conflict has gone viral following a series of sharp exchanges on the Indian news channel Republic World.
During a broadcast of "Debate with Arnab," the discussion moved from regional diplomacy to personal accusations regarding the legitimacy of the Israeli state and its military operations.
The confrontation began when Amichai Chikli characterized the regional situation as a religious conflict, labeling Pakistan part of a "radical Sunni axis of evil."
Faisal rejected the accusation, stating that the opposition to Israeli actions is not restricted to a single faith. He pointed to the presence of Jewish and Christian protesters in cities like London and New York as evidence that the global reaction is not a religious war.
The tone of the debate shifted when the host introduced the stance of US Vice President J.D.Vance regarding Lebanon and Israel. While Goswami noted Vance’s support for Israel, Faisal maintained that Pakistan does not recognize the state as a legitimate entity. He cited the founder of Pakistan’s stance, describing the state as an "illegitimate child of the West".
Goswami responded by calling this perspective "delusional," suggesting that the Pakistani representative is just acting as a "courier".
The exchange grew more volatile as Faisal referred to the leadership in Tel Aviv as "lunatics" who were pushing the world toward a third world war. When Goswami intervened to defend the Israeli minister's title, Faisal countered by describing the official as a representative of a "genocidal regime".
The Israeli minister questioned Faisal on whether he would condemn the Iranian government for its domestic policies. Faisal refused, accusing Chikli of spreading "lies" and failing to acknowledge military actions in Lebanon and Gaza. "You have conducted a massacre in Lebanon. You have conducted a genocide in Gaza. Will you condemn that?" Faisal asked.
Public reaction to the segment was swift, with many social media users praising Faisal for maintaining a firm stance during the high-pressure exchange.
Commenters expressed support for the journalist’s refusal to back down. Many commended Faisal for his composure while addressing the Israeli minister and the moderator.
