India will not visit Pakistan; Champions Trophy to be hybrid model, claims Indian media
Indian media has stirred up uncertainty surrounding Champions Trophy, claiming that the Indian team may not travel to Pakistan for the tournament.
Pakistan is hosting the International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy 2025, scheduled for February or March 2025.
Pakistan has also shared the schedule with the ICC, according to which all India matches will be held at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
According to the schedule, the match between traditional rivals Pakistan and India will be held on March 1st at the Gaddafi Stadium, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not yet confirmed or denied the Indian team’s trip to Pakistan.
The Champions Trophy was last played in 2017, which Pakistan won by defeating India.
However, now the neighbouring country’s media is claiming that some matches of the Champions Trophy will be held in the United Arab Emirates or Sri Lanka on a hybrid model. However, the Indian government will take the final decision.
Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi has clarified that Pakistan is ready to host the event and that the entire tournament will be played in Pakistan. The matter will be further discussed in the upcoming ICC meeting in Sri Lanka at the end of July.
No bilateral series had been played between Pakistan and India since 2013, and the Indian team has not come to Pakistan to play in any tournament since 2008.
