An Indian-origin nurse in Singapore has been sentenced to 14 months in jail and caning for sexually harassing a young male attendant at a hospital.

According to media reports, the incident took place on June 18, 2025, at Raffles Hospital. The 34-year-old nurse, identified as Elipe Siva Nagu, allegedly harassed the young attendant of a patient under the pretext of using disinfectant spray in the washroom.

The victim was shocked by the incident and immediately informed his grandfather, who was admitted to the hospital. The patient then reported the matter to hospital authorities, who alerted the police.

Police arrested the nurse two days later, while hospital management terminated her employment.

During the court hearing, the prosecution argued that “this crime not only harmed the victim but also damaged the environment of the hospital, so strict punishment is necessary.”

The court found Elipe Siva Nagu guilty and sentenced her to 14 months in prison along with corporal punishment.
