Police in India’s Rajasthan state have arrested three who allegedly opened fire at Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai on Sunday.
According to Indian media reports, police picked up the men at Kota railway station on Monday, as they travelled from Mumbai by train.
Kota Superintendent of Police Tejaswini Gautam told media that two of the suspects hail from Haryana and one from Bihar. She said police had established their identities and were questioning them.
Police sources also told Indian media the men allegedly received a total of Rs50,000 for the attack.
On Sunday, it was reported that the shooting took place around 7 pm near Pushpa Park in Mumbai’s Juhu area, as Shroff left a football session.
The attackers arrived on a motorcycle, fired and fled. Police first said they fired three or four rounds but Eknath Shinde, the deputy chief minister of the Indian state of Maharashtra, later said five shots were fired.
While Shroff escaped the bullets but flying glass and gunpowder hurt his hands, a bullet struck his driver in the left arm and an autorickshaw driver also suffered injuries.
Doctors treated the injured at Nanavati Hospital in Vile Parle where the driver is said to be in a stable condition.
Soon after the shooting, a social media post, purportedly by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the attack.
In an audio clip shared online, a man calling himself Anil Pandit said the gang targeted Shroff for working with Bollywood star Salman Khan, and he threatened anyone in the industry who did the same.
Police have not yet verified either claim.
