The daughter-in-law of the prominent Nagod royal family in India sustained a gunshot wound following an incident that reports say was carried out by her husband’s girlfriend at a historic estate.
The injured woman, identified as Yogita Singh, is the first wife of Rupendra Kumar Singh, popularly known as Baba Raja, who holds status as a member of the Nagod royal family and is the nephew of well-known local politician Nagendra Singh.
The shooting took place within the confines of the historic Parsamaniya Garhi Fort in the Satna district of Madhya Pradesh, where a long-standing domestic and matrimonial dispute reached a violent climax.
According to reports, Yogita had travelled to the fort to hold discussions regarding the ongoing family feud. However, the situation escalated rapidly, resulting in a heated confrontation inside the ancestral property.
During the altercation, the husband’s girlfriend, identified as Sunita Singh Parihar, allegedly discharged a licensed rifle multiple times. One of the bullets struck Yogita in the abdomen, necessitating her immediate transfer to a hospital, where she underwent surgery.
Medical officials have since confirmed that her condition is stable and she is currently out of danger.
Following the incident, local police apprehended Sunita and recovered the licensed firearm used in the assault. A formal complaint has been registered under provisions relating to an attempt to murder.
Meanwhile, the victim’s mother, Narendra Kumari, has publicly alleged that Rupendra Kumar Singh actively incited his girlfriend to open fire during the argument, leading to demands from the family for legal action to be initiated against the royal family member as well.
