Pakistani entertainment commentator Dr Ejaz Waris is facing heavy backlash on social media after he mocked Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif’s post-pregnancy appearance in a video that has since gone viral for all the wrong reasons.
Katrina became a mother for the first time in November last year, welcoming a son with husband Vicky Kaushal. She made one of her first major public appearances since then on September 14, when she was spotted with Vicky at the Ambani family’s Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Mumbai.
Dressed in a simple pista-colored suit with a bandhgala, the appearance quickly drew attention online as users began circulating before-and-after photo comparisons of the actress.
It was against this backdrop that Waris shared his video, in which he took aim at Katrina’s changed looks.
“What happened to Katrina Kaif? She looks like Vicky Kaushal’s mother all of a sudden. What happened to her? She really looks like a mother now. What am I supposed to do? What am I supposed to do? I just can’t handle Katrina Kaif’s look,” he said.
He continued in the same vein, referencing an old song associated with the actress.
“Katrina Kaif, what happened to you? I know you are as lovable, adorable and beautiful as ever, but please control yourself. I mean, you look older than Vicky Kaushal. I don’t know why. We have to get rid of this older look because I simply cannot handle it. We have seen Katrina in a completely different form, that beautiful version of you. Remember? ‘Wo haseen roop tera, hone laga hoon…’ Do you remember those days? I’m still in shock,” Waris claimed.
The comments did not sit well with social media users, who flooded his post with criticism.
One user wrote, “I’m genuinely concerned about his wife bro…….”
Another wrote, in Roman Urdu, “Aapni shakal aap nahi dekhte [Don’t you look at your own face?]”
One user defended the actress directly, writing, “Katrina look so beautiful.. mind your own business.”
Another posted, “This kind of woman shamming is unacceptable !!! @katrinakaif is beautiful and will always be beautiful respective of her size.”
One user wrote, in a mix of Roman Urdu and English, “Apko masla kia h akhir??? She is looking super graceful [What exactly is your problem? She is looking super graceful].”
Another pointed out, “Aging is normal process sir.”
Some users called for stronger action, with one writing, “Can someone please get his account suspended.”
Another wrote, “Shame on you it’s 2026 and still so called educated people like you are body shaming.”
One of the sharpest responses came in Roman Urdu: “Aapke ghar mein sheesha nai hai? [Don’t you have a mirror at home?]”
The controversy has also drawn reactions from within the industry.
Singer Ali Zafar, who has previously starred alongside Katrina in “Mere Brother Ki Dulhan,” addressed the body-shaming row without naming Waris directly, urging men to reconsider how they judge women’s appearances.
