The internet is divided as actor Imran Abbas speaks out against child star Aayat Arif’s recent runway appearance, arguing that young girls should not be encouraged to walk the ramp like professional models.
Sharing her video on his Instagram stories, Abbas wrote, “Please don’t let these young girls walk the ramp like professional models. We are living in a society of vultures.”
Imran’s post sparked a debate online with some supporting him and calling for parents to be “more mindful” while others called for the need to “rein in said ‘vultures’”.
One user wrote, “At least someone spoke,” followed by a clapping emoji. Another wrote, “Agree 100 percent.” A third comment simply read, “Seriously,” accompanied by rows of clapping emojis. Another user wrote, “Exactly, agreed,” with a thumbs up emoji. A comment read, “Yes plz sure.”
Others resorted to stressing the need for a safer environment for women, especially young girls, none of whom they said were safe regardless of if they took the ramp at a fashion show or not.
Aayat Arif first gained public attention as a child reciting naats during live transmissions before going on to build a following as a YouTuber.
She has since begun appearing in mainstream fashion events, most recently taking part in the ongoing Kashees Bridal Show, where she walked the ramp in an individual capacity, wearing a multicoloured lehenga from the label.
