Controversial YouTuber Rajab Butt has drawn furious online reactions after saying that he wants to play the late philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi on screen.
Butt appeared on a recent podcast where the host asked him whose biopic he would want to work in. “Edhi sahab’s. I would love to do Edhi sahab’s [biopic]. If I get a setup like that, and if people accept me in that role, I swear I would love to do it,” he replied.
Social media response was fast and furious. Many suggested other roles for him.
One user wrote, “Firon ka role karlo [Play the role of the Pharaoh].” Another wrote, “Firoun ya Namrood ki Biopic banay tou us mein fit rahe ga ye [If they make a biopic of Pharaoh or Nimrod, he will fit in that role].”
Another person wrote, “Bhai tu Modi ka role kr [Brother, you play Modi’s role].”
Others focused on Edhi’s legacy. One comment said, “Bat karny sy pehly isko sharam b ni ati hogi [Doesn’t he feel any shame before speaking?]” Another wrote, “Edhi sahab ki rooh ne kanp Jana Agar is ne kia to [Edhi sahab’s soul will tremble if he plays the role.]”
A third user wrote, “Shame on him. People can never digest. Edhi was a great personality.”
Butt is currently working on a film. According to reports, he plays the lead in an action-comedy directed by Syed Faisal Bukhari, with actress Amar Khan as the female lead.
He has over nine million subscribers on YouTube and nearly three million followers on Instagram.
