The Islamabad Circle of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has registered a case against a man for allegedly using artificial intelligence (AI) to seek ways to kill his ex-girlfriend.

According to reports, the agency filed the case after an inquiry into allegations that the man had intended to kill his former girlfriend and had sought information about “murder methods” through AI and digital platforms.

While the FIR [First Information Report] stated that the suspect tried to get information and ideas about how to commit murder, an official statement by the NCCIA maintained that he allegedly used Claude AI to seek those ideas.

An agency official added that the allegations remained under investigation and the legal process would establish the facts. He said the case has raised concerns about the misuse of AI tools and digital communication platforms for threats, intimidation and other unlawful activities.

The official said the agency was working to address emerging cybercrime threats, protect citizens from the misuse of digital technology and ensure that those found responsible face action under the law.

He added that investigators would continue to follow available evidence and legal procedures.
