During a press conference held on Friday, Director General (DG) of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry rejected speculation linking the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to terrorism in Balochistan, describing such claims as baseless propaganda aimed at undermining the longstanding relationship between the two countries.
On Friday, while responding to a question about Pakistan-UAE relations and allegations circulating on social media regarding the UAE’s alleged involvement in unrest in Balochistan, the military spokesperson said that the two countries shared a deep and historic partnership built on mutual trust and close ties.
He called the allegations “baseless and illogical”, emphasising that they originated primarily from social media accounts operating from outside Pakistan. “These claims are being spread by people who are unhappy with Pakistan’s relations with the UAE and the Gulf states,” the ISPR chief said.
The DG stated that attempts to create mistrust between Islamabad and Abu Dhabi would not succeed, stressing that the bilateral relationship had endured for decades and remained firmly rooted in shared interests.
Referring to the regional security environment, he pointed out that the UAE was situated in an area affected by military conflict and, like any sovereign state, had the right to adopt measures necessary for its national security. “There is nothing wrong with a country taking decisions that it considers necessary for its national security,” he said.
The ISPR chief also said it was unrealistic to expect every country in the world to hold identical views on all international issues. Despite differences that naturally exist between states, he observed that Pakistan and the UAE maintained a relationship based on mutual respect and a shared commitment to each other’s security and stability.
He reiterated that Pakistan and the UAE had deep historical connections and that both countries regarded each other’s peace, security and stability as being in their common interest.
Concluding his remarks, Lieutenant General Chaudhry said that propaganda targeting Pakistan-UAE relations will not succeed.
