No evidence of violence or sexual assault was discovered in an initial post-mortem report of the 18-year-old student who died at District Headquarters Hospital Jhang, hospital administration confirmed Wednesday.

According to the report, the deceased was a diabetic patient who had been on insulin for five years. She was already unconscious when she arrived at DHQ Hospital Jhang.

To determine the actual cause of death, samples have been sent to the forensic laboratory in Lahore while four suspects, who abandoned the girl at a private hospital in an unconscious state, remain in police custody.

Earlier, the victim’s father had alleged that his daughter was abducted and gang-raped, with undated CCTV footage sending shockwaves across the country.

The footage and subsequent claims had drawn strong reactions from the masses, with some celebrities going on to demand public execution of the suspects.
