Karachi: DIG’s son hits woman’s car while drunk driving
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Rapid Response Force Azfar Mahesar’s son has allegedly hit a woman's car in a case of drunk driving.
Geo News reports that DIG Azfar Mahesar’s son, Asher Azfar Mahesar, was travelling in a vehicle with a police number plate on it along with a cousin and two Rapid Response Force personnel when he hit a woman’s car in the Garden area of the city.
The woman is seriously injured.
The local police says that the DIG’s son was intoxicated at the time of the accident.
People present at the scene immediately surrounded the vehicle.
However, a government gunman fired in the air to disperse the people.
The police detained Asher Azfar Mahesar, his nephew Mubashir Raza, and two Rapid Response Force personnel and shifted them to the police station, while the injured woman has been shifted to the Civil Hospital.
In March, Ashar Azfar Mahesar’s videos of aerial firing surfaced on social media, after which Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar and Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon ordered an inquiry against him.
Videos of him brandishing different kinds of weapons and resorting to aerial firing were posted on social media, which invited backlash.
However, the outcome of the investigation was never made public and Azfar Mahsar called it a propaganda against the son.
