Karachi police have registered a case against unidentified suspects on Wednesday following the death of a three- to four-day-old infant who was thrown from an upper floor of a residential building in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

Police officers reached the location on Tuesday evening after receiving a call via the Madadgar 15 helpline. Responders discovered the body of the infant inside the duct area of the multi-storey structure.

Investigators noted blood marks and splashes across the walls of the upper floor. The physical indicators raised suspicion that the infant was alive at the time of the fall. Officials suspect that perpetrators threw the child from the floor in an attempt to conceal the birth.

Law enforcement personnel shifted the body to Jinnah Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Medical staff collected biological samples for DNA and serology testing to support the probe.

Authorities registered the case under Section 329 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) against unknown perpetrators. Investigators continue search operations to track down and identify the individuals involved in the incident.

In a separate development in Lahore, Nawab Town police arrested three suspects, including one man and two women, near Pine Avenue Road. Emergency 15 responders caught the suspects directly at the scene while the group dug a pit to bury a newborn infant.

During initial interrogation, the arrested individuals disclosed details regarding an alleged abortion.
