A video of a woman named Noor-ul-Ain, who was injured during a fight between women in Defence’s Chota Bukhari Commercial Area, Karachi, has surfaced online, showing her wounded and frightened.
In the video, Noor-ul-Ain says, “My nose and mouth are bleeding, my eye is injured and my hair has been pulled out.”
Another video from the incident shows police personnel taking a man away from the scene while an official Vigo is also visible outside the flat on Khayaban-e-Bukhari.
The footage has raised questions about why police were present at the location, who called them there and who the official vehicle belonged to. No clear explanation has so far been given by police officials.
The incident took place nine days ago at a flat in Defence where two women were involved in a fight. Earlier footage of the altercation had also surfaced showing police personnel at the scene.
A case was registered at Darakhshan police station in connection with the incident. However, details about the police response and the circumstances in which the man was taken away remain unclear.
Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Korangi Fida Hussain Janwari has denied social media claims linking him to a viral video from the incident.
Janwari said that the woman seen in the video is neither his wife nor his sister. He added that a girl of his daughter’s age had been falsely identified as his wife in a social media post.
The SSP said that the video was being attributed to him as part of an organised attempt to damage his reputation. He said that legal action would be taken against those circulating the video in his name and added that he had contacted the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) over the matter.
