A man accused of molesting a 10-year-old girl in Chunian was critically injured after reportedly accidentally shooting himself in the private parts during a police raid on Friday, according to media reports.

 

According to the Police officials, the suspect, believed to be 27 or 28 years old, was captured on CCTV molesting the child in Zaheerabad Colony. The disturbing footage, which went viral on social media, showed him approaching the girl in the street and committing the crime. The victim’s father later identified the suspect and filed a First Information Report (FIR).

 

The suspect is a daily-wage labourer from the same neighbourhood, is married and has a daughter. Following the FIR, police launched a raid to arrest him.

 

During the operation, the suspect allegedly resisted arrest and pulled out a pistol. According to police sources, the weapon discharged accidentally, causing a severe injury to his private parts. He was rushed to a hospital for treatment.

 

A senior officer told a private media outlet, “The suspect attempted to brandish a weapon during the raid. In the chaos, the pistol went off and injured him. Our team did not fire any shots.”

 

This incident echoes a similar case from Shah Inayat Colony three weeks earlier, where another man was caught molesting a girl playing in the street. That video also sparked widespread outrage online.

 

District Police Officer Essa Khan Sukhera had directed Station House Officer Asif Javed to arrest the suspect. City police apprehended the man, a labourer from Okara, three days later. He too suffered a gunshot wound to his private parts when his pistol discharged during a confrontation on Dhanpat Road.
